Where we are, and how far that really is

O’Connor-Parkview is in East York. We are on Lawrence Avenue East in Scarborough. On a map that reads as two separate parts of the city, and it puts people off before they check the actual drive.

The drive is one road. Victoria Park Avenue runs north from O’Connor Drive without a break. You pass the O’Connor Community Centre at 1386 Victoria Park, cross Eglinton beside Eglinton Square, continue through the Golden Mile, and turn right at Lawrence. We are on the north side, a short distance past Pharmacy Avenue.

Getting here from O'Connor-Parkview

There are dentists closer to Topham Park than we are. Three things bring people here anyway.

Hours that fit a working week

We are open until 8 PM four nights a week and until 5 PM on Saturday. If you work in the Bermondsey Road industrial area or commute downtown, you do not have to take a weekday afternoon off.

One address for the whole treatment

Implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts, root canals, crowns, bridges, orthodontics and periodontal work are all done here. A case that would normally mean a referral to a second office across town is finished in the same chair.

Straightforward billing

We submit to your insurer directly and we are an approved CDCP provider, which means we file the claim and you pay only your share, if any.

Who you'll see

Two dentists, and the implant and surgical work stays in house.

Dr. Daniel Gibbs

University of Toronto, 1982. Over 40 years in practice in Toronto and Scarborough. He has been restoring implants since 1987 and placing them since 2000, and has taught in the Prosthodontic Department at the University of Toronto since 2014.

Implants, bone grafting and sinus lifts, Full-arch rehabilitation, Periodontal surgery, Invisalign and orthodontics, Laser dentistry.

Fellow, International Congress of Oral Implantologists

Dr. Sasan Shahrbandi

Graduated with honours, and has practised for over 20 years across two continents. He founded Lawrence Dental Centre and leads the cosmetic and surgical side of the practice.

Smile design and full-mouth reconstruction, Wisdom tooth extractions, TMJ treatment, Root canal therapy, General and restorative care

Paying for treatment: insurance, CDCP, and no coverage

There are dentists closer to Topham Park than we are. Three things bring people here anyway.

If you are on the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Lawrence Dental Centre is an approved CDCP provider. We submit the claim to the plan directly, so you pay only your co-payment at the time of the visit. Note that CDCP does not work as a reimbursement programme. You cannot pay the full amount and claim it back later, which is why it matters that your clinic is enrolled.

What the plan pays depends on household income:

CDCP coverage by household income
Household incomeCDCP paysYou pay
Under $70,000100%Nothing
$70,000 to $79,99960%40%
$80,000 to $89,99940%60%

Figures apply to households without private dental insurance.

Exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, scaling and simple extractions need no pre-approval. Crowns, bridges, dentures and complex work do, and we handle that paperwork.

One point that applies to a lot of people in this neighbourhood. If you are retired and you opted out of the dental coverage attached to your pension before 11 December 2023, and you cannot opt back in, you may still qualify for CDCP even though a pension plan is involved. A number of retirees assume they are automatically excluded and never apply.

CDCP coverage also has to be renewed every year. If you missed the renewal window, you can reapply, but treatment received during the gap is not covered.

If you have private insurance

We bill most major plans directly. Bring your card to the first visit and you pay only the portion your plan does not cover. If you are not sure what your plan includes, call us with the details and we will check before you commit to anything.

If you have no coverage at all

Tell us when you book. We quote the full cost before treatment starts, and we offer payment plans so a larger case can be paid in stages rather than in one go. Nothing gets added to the bill that you have not agreed to first.
